Area of Operation :- Rural Area of the district
Primary Work of the Department :- Implementing various welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, Nomadic Tribes, and Neo-Buddhists in rural areas.
Vision :-
To improve the standard of living of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, and Nomadic Tribes in rural areas through various welfare schemes under the central government, state government, and district council.
Mission :-
1. Providing agricultural tools to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, and Nomadic Tribes in rural areas (e.g., palm leaves, pipes, electric motors, etc.).
2. Developing the settlements of Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities.
3. Implementing pre-matric scholarships for backward-class boys and girls.
4. Providing admission to backward-class students in subsidized hostels from grades 5 to 10.
Objectives :-
1. Improving basic amenities in the settlements of Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities in rural areas, such as providing sanitation facilities, drinking water supply, access roads, lighting, community halls, etc.
2. Under the 20% cess fund scheme, the District Council reserves 20% of its income each year for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, Nomadic Tribes, and Neo-Buddhists, which is spent on
welfare schemes.
3. Providing nutritional grants to backward-class students in subsidized hostels through voluntary organizations.
4. Encouraging inter-caste marriages under a special scheme, providing ₹50,000 to the beneficiary couples.
5. Providing pre-matric scholarships to backward-class students in grades 5 to 10.
6. Under the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Senior Literary and Artist Honor Scheme, providing benefits to beneficiary artists.
